Anecdotally, we seem to find two major ‘silos’ within IT organizations; the Network Group and the Applications/Server Group.  The tools, the teams, the budgets, and pride seem to line up on one side or the other of the wall separating the silos.  With modern enterprise applications becoming increasingly distributed and based on standardized web technologies, separating the network, network performance and application performance is becoming ever more difficult.
